Can anyone comment on the accuracy of my translation: "Here we are, in Godelier's words, putting in place a teaching approach that leads to intellectual and social decentralization"

Un anthropologue est quelqu’un qui part avec ce qu’on lui a appris dans sa société sur ce
qu’est une société, sur les types de parenté, etc., qui part donc avec un appareil de concepts
et de connaissances. Il devrait partir également avec une vigilance critique, c’est‑à‑dire être
prêt à critiquer ce qu’il a appris si cela ne correspond pas à ce qu’il observe. Mais il part avec
un appareil théorique de son temps qui est une construction. Il travaille avec ce moi cognitif.
Il va devoir se décentrer par rapport à sa propre culture, sa propre société. Ce décentrement
systématique, cette suspension de son jugement, ce travail sur soi, cette ascèse analytique est
l’acte fondateur de la démarche d’un anthropologue qui doit se mettre à distance de lui‑même
et de sa culture d’origine pour observer.

I'd avoid decentralization as that word was a possible option in French and not chosen - probably as it immediately makes one think of decentralized administration. Does not mean the same thing either.

Decentering: Decentering refers to the ability to consider multiple aspects of a situation. In Piaget's theory of cognitive development, the third stage is called Concrete Operational stage, where a child age 7-12 shows increased use of logic. One of the logical processes that develops is that of Decentering. For example, when asked to choose between two lollipops, a child might choose based on how one flavor is better than the other even though the other is the same size and color.
