French term or phrase: Lieu à vivre
The document I'm translating is about the design of an educational area in a museum that is "pensé comme un nouveau lieu à vivre". It then goes on to refer to the concepts of "foyer" and "maison". I'm looking for a translation of "nouveau lieu de vivre". I'm not sure that a place to live is appropriate here. Thanks

living space
Explanation:
I think this would work as it ties in with the "home" aspect you need to evoke while sounding like an appropriate name for a museum area; you also get the double bubble of the other meaning of "living space"in English: a space that's alive. And museums tend to want to put across the idea of being alive rather than old and musty...;-)

Explanation:
I think "vivre" here is more to do with experiencing things. Take a look at the links below, which both seem to tie in with your query.

neutral  Philippa Smith: I think this would be a good option if there weren't the references to "foyer" and "maison": it's important to retain the "inhabiting" dimension imo.
