French term or phrase: bilan d'expérimentation
This is from training material for companies wanting to implement a peer support program.

The sentence is "Rien de mieux que les bilans d'expérimentations pour cibler....."

What they mean is that they can learn from the assessments or results (bilans) that other companies have carried out after "trying out" their own peer support program.

I find other instances of "bilan d'expérimentation" in google searches.

Am looking for a succinct, meaningful way of translating this. I have thought of "experimentation/trial/tryout/test" as English translations of "expérimentation" and "overview/assessment/review/results" for "bilan". But none of these combinations gives convincing results when I plug them into Google and usually they lead me to other fields (science, law, etc.).

Thanking you in advance!

Nothing beats an experimental study to identify lessons learned?

Perhaps report would be more appropriate as a translation for bilan.

Asker: Thank you, Mélanie, but I think the context is quite different. The "expérimentations" refers to companies that "tried out" a program and then conducted a "bilan" of how well the program worked. It doesn't necessarily refer to a study or research endeavour.

Asker: Thanks again for your contribution.

experiential learning

Explanation:
I thin "experiments" and "experimentation" sound way too scientific and French uses "expérimentation" in a much more general way than we do in English.

Experiential learning also known as (EXL) is the process of learning through experience, and is more specifically defined as "learning through reflection on doing". Hands-on learning can be a form of experiential learning, but does not necessarily involve students reflecting on their product.

trialing study/report

Explanation:
I'm not convinced by 'experimentation' in this context and my term is not just used for medical trials

Asker: Thanks! I agree with you about the English translation "experimentation". It is used in scientific contexts. In the link you give, the trialing is done as part of a research project and in my context, the "exprérimentation" is not part of any official research study. It's just different companies trying out peer support and assessing the results after a period of time. I appreciate your suggestion.
