supply of/by firms Explanation: "...an increase in the supply of/by/from foreign firms..." For a stickler intro-level point, maybe say "an increase in the quantity supplied by foreign firms", because the suggested translation can be interpreted as equivalent to a shift in the entire supply curve as opposed to an increase in volume per se. But I think the suggested way is fine here. |

supply of firms Explanation: Maybe the idea is that the supply of foreign firms will increase not because use of local labor increases their "costs" - which would have the opposite effect - but in the sense that their local "expenditures" increase. Thus there is an increase in the supply of foreign firms in the role of local employers or investors. Reference: http://www.utopies.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/UTOPIES_No... |

what companies have to offer Explanation: The suggestion I have made is to accentuate the meaning I intend. It is probably not the most helpful form of words. The idea of "supply of/from firms" seems a little awkward here, even potentially ambiguous. It is not about firms being supplied, but that is how it can read. I think this really is about how the range of business companies are proposing is suited to what is actually required... or not. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 8 hrs (2017-04-19 07:32:43 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- "range of business that companies are proposing..." |
