French to English translations [PRO] Education / Pedagogy
French term or phrase:valoriser
I am translating a letter and a learning agreement for a client and can't work out how to translate "valoriser" in this context. Any ideas would be very welcome!
I am aware that it appears in the glossary several times but none of the entries seem to work here!
Context:
"Vous avez demandé à valoriser votre projet de création ou reprise d’activité au titre de votre stage de … .
Nous avons le plaisir de vous informer que votre demande a été reçue favorablement et que nous vous autorisons à valoriser votre stage, et les crédits correspondants, par la réalisation de votre projet entrepreneurial."
Explanation: You'll need to re-work the entire sentence in order to fit this in, of course — but the underlying meaning is 'to make the most of' What it usually means in this sort of context is that your 'practical experience' will be counted towards your qualification — possibly in terms of say an equivalent number of hours, or course 'credits' of some kind. This sort of thing happens a lot, especially where 'continuous assessment' is used.

As I see it, the person has either set-up or taken over a business, and the educational establishment is agreeing to 'let this count' a posteriori as the 'stage' part of their programme
