I already wrote to my client and said I had some issues with the document. They also have a douane implant, and since implant is generally a medical term, I think they probably mean a customs establishment... I have checked three dictionaries, including Robert's, and found nothing helpful... Thank you for weighing in! I will send him a copy of your comments.

I worked for over 20 years in International Transport and Export. Ex Works 'Douane Fait(e)' does not exist. Hence why this is flagged in an audit.

Douane Fait(e) is too vague. It could mean anything from export documentation being prepared by the supplier (as suggested in the answer below) to the extreme of paying for the customer's own import duties and VAT which is definitely a No-No when it comes to Ex Works (the applicable Incoterm in this case would be DDP - Delivered Duty Paid).

Unless you get clarification from the customer, your answer will be as vague as the French source!

does not mean it is not "franglish." In the U.S. we use (in Spanish) hardware and software, despite the fact that actual translations in Spanish terms exist... That is, to a great extent, translator laziness... And those who hire translators and want to pay pennies per word...

It could never mean "made", of course! However, "done" seems like a highly likely meaning. It is not at al unusual to use a tick-box style in such situations, where you might expect to find something along the lines of "douane: fait(e)".
P.S. "Reporting" has been used in France for years BTW.

For example, they use reporting in the French, and other such lovely terms... I am just not sure of the meaning of douane fait here, but yes, duty paid would be another possibility.

When I Google the specific sequence "douane fait", I see many instances where the "douane" and the "fait" need to be considered separately.

Could it be short for "droit de douane" and mean "duty paid"? That would explain why it says "fait" and not "faite". Don't know, just guessing.
EXW is ex works.
