gaiter / boot retainer Explanation: Well, from what they're describing, this 'manchette' is obviously the rubber 'gaiter' (or more familiarly 'boot') around the UJ — moe commonly called a 'soufflet de cardan', I believe, in FR. As for the 'serre-' aspect, they are usually held on by some kind of thing, either a bit likte a cable tie, or sometimes by something metallic, more like a hose clip. In the absence of knowing exactly which type is fitted, the non-committal 'retainer' is probably your safest bet! |
