lazy-S incision Explanation: I came at this "sideways"... A webpage about pottery, of all things, provided a clue, describing a pattern that is "wavy oblique (lazy S)", see ref. 1. There are several hits on Google for "oblique lazy-S incision", cf. ref. 2, but they are not convincing. So after initially working out that "italique" here = "wavy oblique", I came to the conclusion that maybe the "italique" is in any case redundant - only 7 Google hits for "incision en S italique" compared with thousands for "incision en S" tout court... But I may be wrong - no guarantees! NB Despite numerous hits for "italic lazy-S incision", these are all without exception "foreign" English so not authoritative.
