pigging Explanation: Pipelines are maintained using an operation called "pigging", which uses "pigs" that travel through the pipeline. A series of pigs with a cleaning fluid moves down the pipeline to separate deliveries of different products. This train of pigs and fluid takes up a certain amount of space which displaces the total volume of product delivered. For a discussion on pigging see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pigging A further discussion along with some French terms is at http://www.ptac.org/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/Final-Report-... -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 27 mins (2018-11-09 16:47:23 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- Search the latter document for the terms "chasse" and "pig" |
