Something along these lines, I should have thought. As far as I'm aware, the idea of "de choc" is crack, ace, highly efficient and dynamic. With "duo", dynamic seems irresistible. And the idea of "être aux petits soins de quelqu'un" is to wait on someone hand and foot, so to speak.

Barbara Cochran, MFA: "fantastic couple" makes it sound like they're married, living together, or a steady item' often used in relation to people who are in those kinds of relationships and in show biz, at the same time. Anyway, I use American, not British English.

-> No it doesn't, because of what I wrote right after. According to famed literary translator Edith Grossman, context is key. But perhaps you'd prefer my alternative rendition, "pampering PAIR", which, as you can see, I entered later.
