« J’aurais enfermé  mon amusement dans la  connaissance des secrets  que m’enseigne ma grandmère pour la guérison du  corps humain. Les fleurs,  les herbes, les pierres,  les mouches, tous  les secrets de la nature,  il y en aurait eu bien assez  pour m’occuper et pour  me divertir, moi qui aime  à vaguer et à fureter  partout. J’aurais toujours  été seule, sans connaître  l’ennui ; car mon plus  grand plaisir est d’aller  dans les endroits qu’on  ne fréquente point  ***et d’y rêvasser à  cinquante choses**** dont je  n’entends jamais parler  aux personnes qui se  croient bien sages et bien  avisées. »
