Explanation:
Apoyo la propuesta de los compañeros, creo que lo que usamos más frecuentemente en español es el verbo "inventar", pero creo que faltaría el matiz "me" y "suis", que entiendo se refiere a que inventó un personaje sobre si mismo..

Entonces sería: Inventé un personaje de mí..

¿Es correcto?

Acabo de darme cuenta de que Jlr, en su propia propuesta, incluyó el matiz que yo comento, pero dudo acerca de si \"me\" construí es correcto en español, creo que ese giro sí es un calco y lo correcto sería \"de mí\" o tal vez más correcto aún sería \"sobre mí\" :-)

agree  Taru: Sí Susan, en lenguaje hablado decir "inventé un personaje de mí" se escucha mucho, sobre todo en estos temas.También podría decirse "inventé o construí un personaje sobre mí mismo...". Me gusta tu versión, creo interpreta muy bien el sentido de la frase
