Det er lidt sent, men jeg kom lige pludselig i tanke om, at man evt. kunne bruge "tykt tæt frotte", da det jo hovedsagelig drejer sig om bøjlens bæreevne.

Walken (på dansk "valke") betyder at bearbejde stoffet sådan, at der opstår en vis filtning - som fx ved valket uld eller filt - hvorved stoffet virker "tættere".
