If this is about "Packshots", and how they affect the perception of a proposed product in the eyes (and, in this case, virtual noses) of consumers, the above would appear to be what they are on about.

The packaging must be designed (both the box and the bottle, if it’s perfume) to make the prospective customer wish to buy the particular fragrance planted subliminally in the mind purely by visual means - without, of course, ever having smelled it.

Marketing is all about the perception of various attributes, tonalities, awareness, emotion, visual impact, connotations and all sorts of other things that motivate or trigger the purchasing impulse and make you buy things you probably never wanted in the first place.
