English translation: emission burden

German term or phrase: Emissionsfracht
Ein Vergleich der zusätzlichen jährlichen Emissionsfrachten mit den zulässigen Vorsorgewerten zeigt, dass diese überschritten werden.

In other circumstances I would be tempted to use "loads", but this is impossible here because of the frequent presence of "Belastung" in the text which I have translated with "(pollution) load".

Any suggestions for a convincing English term?

English translation:emission burden
Explanation:
Would mean the same as 'load' to me, but it appears to be a term in use, at least in the USA.

emissions load

Explanation:
Would seem the obvious choice. It's difficult to comment without seeing more the text, but Belastung is often just "pollution" (withouth "load"), so it may be that you can omit "load" from your translation of "Belastung".

quantum of emissions

Explanation:
I think the 'loading' / 'polluting' aspect is inherent in the word 'emissions' and a general quantifier is all that may be needed.

Hope this helps.

Notes to answerer
Asker: Hi, Thank you for your suggestion of "burden". This worked admirably in the particular context, hence my choice of this term.
