ballast container Explanation: HazMat definitely had the right idea with "ballast" but you usually think of a tray as shallow. The ballast trays I found were used to hold flat concrete blocks. Solar Flat Roof & Wall Frame Installations Flat roof mounting systems can comprise either aluminium frame systems or plastic containers. The frames may be either ballasted onto the roof or mechanically fixed to the roof without breaching the weathertightness. The plastic containers are ballasted only. Ballast systems will greatly increase the static load on the roof and requires careful professional assessment of the strength of the roof. Wind loading also requires professional assessment of the exposure of the site, of the angle, orientation and size of the collectors and of the holding power of the ballast or mechanical fixings. Most larger solar companies will be able to provide the required technical advice. http://www.solarbook.co.uk/solar-frame-installations.html |

ballast tray mount[ing] Explanation: flat-roof ballast tray mounts for solar panels e.g.: Optional Stainless Steel clip attaches to ends of ballast tray. (2) clips required per tray. http://aeesolar.com/trainings/presentations-2010/AET-Q1-2010... (with illustrations) Categories: * solar panel ballast mounting Solar Panel flat roof ballast mounting from Solar panel mounting & racking company. Specializing in different mounting solutions for ground, roof, pole, and ballast applications. All products are 100% aluminum with stainless steel hardware backed by 20 year warranty. Tested to withstand 120 mph winds and double snow loads. Two production factories. China & US made products available. http://www.hotfrog.com/Companies/Tough-Trac/Solar-Panel-flat... The photograph below shows the rear view of two solar panels fitted on a flat roof. As can be seen, aluminium trays are used, filled with gravel for ballast, also a rubber membrane is placed between the gravel trays and the existing roof covering. Installing the solar panels using this method ensures that there are no penetrations to the existing flat roof. http://www.rensus.co.uk/index.php/SAMPLE-SOLAR-PANEL-INSTALL... General description: Ascension Technology’s RoofJack system consists of a sheet-metal tray and a vertical bracket (RoofJack) that bolt together and are used to support large PV modules or largeassemblies of modules on flat roofs. The RoofJacks come in versions for 10º, 15º and 25º fixed tilt angle PV arrays. When installed, the trays are filled with ballast such as stone or concrete blocks, to secure the PV array. No roof penetrations are required. http://www.task7.org/Public/lausanne/part3proda.pdf |
