German term or phrase: Führerschein in Klimakunde

Schon mal vielen Dank an alle, die sich ueber dem Pulsschlag den Kopf zerbrochen haben - es kamen so viele gute Vorschlaege, dass ich mich noch nicht entscheiden kann! In der Zwischenzeit - hier noch eine Zwischenueberschrift. Der Text der drunter steht: "Innerhalb von drei Jahren lernen in einer landesweiten Kampagne 60 000 Jugendliche in einer fünfwöchigen Ausbildung mehr über die Zusammenhänge zwischen Lebensmitteln, Umwelt, Gesundheit und Klima und werden so zu klimabewussten Konsumenten mit nachhaltiger
Lebensweise. Wer die abschließende Prüfung erfolgreich
besteht, erhält einen Klimaführerschein."
Ich habe vorerst "Certificate in Climate Science", finde das aber ein bisschen lahm. Ich waere dankbar fuer Vorschlaege.

English translation:climate "driving licence"

Explanation:
As I see it, this is simply based on the well-known European computer driving licence or ECDL and is simply a trendy way of referring to a certificate of competence (personally I don't think there is intended to be any clever reference to driving the climate) - so I would be tempted to simply transfer it into English, putting "driving licence" in inverted commas to make the point that it is a slightly unusual turn of phrase.

Explanation:
Since the 60,000 Jugendliche are not literally going to be given the chance of ‘driving the climate’, Führerschein is being used metaphorically here and the translation needs to reflect this.

Anyone who passes the test at the end of the course will be issued with a certificate recording their participation.

IMO, anything more than that would be hype.

However, if you suspect the client will feel short-changed by this solution, then you could consider: ‘certificate of proficiency in climate studies’. Since this is not a recognised institute of higher education, I would be inclined to use lower case 'climate science/studies' rather than dignify the term with upper case.

Asker: Thanks, Andrew. I especially like the second option - I do feel that "climate" needs to be in there, as it is in the heading and the emphasis of the whole text is on what we can do to protect our environment. In that sense, these young people will have an impact on the environment and hence on the climate; you could therefore argue that, in some sense, they will be "driving the climate". However, I fail to see an English expression that can express that.

Asker: Thanks, Jos. My first shot was climatology, too, but according to the Oxford Dictionary of English, climatology is the scientific study of climate - I don't think we can call it that here, considering it's only a five week's course.

Possibilities: "Green consumer diploma", or even leaning on Jennifer's suggestion, "Climate crusader diploma"...

You are right... certificate is probably better... or maybe simply "license" without "driver"? Somehow I do not like "driver's license" in this context...

Asker: Thanks, Jacinda. For me as German, a "diploma" has the ring of several years of study to it, therefore I'm a bit hesitant about this one...

Asker: Yep, that's another possibility. Although, just "license" sort of asks the question "license to do what?" If you think about a driving license, a hunting license, you usually obtain a license to be allowed to do something ... But it's definitely a possibility.
