Klärschlamm kann je nach Abwasserart und Behandlungsverfahren umwelt-/gesundheitsgefährdende Stoffe wie Krankheitserreger und Schwermetalle enthalten.

Unbelasteter Klärschlamm beinhaltet i.d.R. Kohlenstoff (50-70 %),
Wasserstoff (6,5-7,3 %), Sauerstoff (21-24 %), Stickstoff (15-18 %),
