Rain water volume measurements????? Explanation: The best thing you can do is to state the whole sentence. The Regenüberlaufbecken is the storm water catch basin, On the ETZ Web page I found the mention of an 'Abschlag'. It is the amount of rain that falls.'Erfassung' would then be the measurement of that water, probably using a sensor of some sort. If I were you, I'd call ETZ , explain that you are a translator, and ask in German if they know the translation of that term in English. Long ago, my German to English translation Teacher gave me the advice to call someone who works in precisely the field where you would find the term, if all else fails,, and if I really can't find a term anywhere, that's what I do. The Abschlag is the amount of water OVER and ABOVE the rainwater that is held in the catch and used to fill the wastewater tank when there is not enough wastewater. Since the rainwater catch is not infinitely large, there is inevitably spillover when it rains too much. The "Abschlag" or the excess water needs to be measured and recorded. They use a radar sensor to do this. However, "excess rainwater" is actually called "surface runoff" according to Wikipaedia, various books, the US gov., etc. so it's actually called a "Runoff measuring device". runoff measuring device Explanation: See "Rain water volume measurements?????" above. I wrote a long note to go along with it. Now, there is also something called a "First flush", and that's where the first water that falls goes. There are things from the first water (presumably all the stuff that's on the pipes and in gutters after the weather has been dry for a period of time) that aren't supposed to go into a rainwater tank for rainwater harvesting - this is for private homes or maybe even in the industry buildings. BUT THIS IS A DIFFERENT TANK FROM THE WASTE WATER TREATMENT TANK, which is more for the community at large. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 87 days (2016-09-26 10:53:21 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- It may interest you to know that epa.gov has mentioned overflow measuring devices in Washington state reports. |
