German term or phrase: Prozessaufname; Aufnahme des Prozesses

English translation:process review
Explanation:
... might well be the term you're looking for in this case, as in https://www.knowledgeleader.com/knowledgeleader/content.nsf/... ("This audit report summarizes a strategic and operational review of a company’s business environment and production processes.")

... erfolgt zu Beginn eine vollständige Prozessaufnahme ... ---> ... initially, a full/complete process review is carried out ...

Während der Aufnahme des Prozesses ... ---> While reviewing the process ...

I take "Aufnahme" to mean review or survey (or even audit) here.

-> You may well have a point here. Could also use "process capture" instead of "process mapping". "Aufnahme" can take various meanings, though.

breakdown of required components

Explanation:
"For each tax risk area, a complete breakdown of the required components will be conducted by the appropriate staff."

You would typically do a review on something that has already been implemented; here by contrast, they're trying to sort out what should go into this process in the first place.

This may be the definition that we need here:

"Üblicherweise wird vor einer Prozessaufnahme definiert, welche Prozesse es aufzunehmen und zu dokumentieren gilt." https://prozessmaler.de/5-erfolgsfaktoren-fuer-eine-vollstae...

I didn't suggest you need to come up with entirely new processes, only that you have to decide anew for each risk area "what type of (tried and tested) processes to INCLUDE" (=ProzessAUFNAHME). If anything is being reviewed, it's the risk areas, not the processes. Prozessaufnahme has a very narrow meaning here: determine what processes to include (in a review of a risk area), not what processes to review.

neutral  Steffen Walter: You seem to be assuming a meaning along the lines of conceiving new processes. I strongly believe, however, that this is about reviewing (and then modifying) processes already in place. The point is to assess and improve existing controls ("bisherige K.")

disagree  Daniel Arnold (X): The question of what the requirements are comes after mapping the as-is process. Sorry for my crypto before ;-)

process documentation

Explanation:
I read "Aufnahme" in the sense of "documentation", as used here:

process mapping

Explanation:
I am fairly sure that this means "process mapping" - breaking a process down into its elements in order to analyse and then optimize them. See links and Google the term, it's widely used. Translated as "Prozesserfassung".

-> yes, but there is a term for it. It's "process mapping" and not "breaking it down into the required components". Sorry Martin, cant change it, but this is a precise term you can find thousands of references for. A standard term.
