German term or phrase: Traditionen des Formulierens
[Auf diese Weise können Begriffe] als Widerspiegelung von Traditionen des Formulierens bzw. Gebrauchskonventionen [untersucht werden.]

Es handelt sich um einen Unterpunkt einer Aufzählung und es geht um Gründe, warum eine automatisierte sprachwissenschaftliche Analyse sinnvoll sein kann.

Ich habe als Rohentwurf sowas gebastelt:

[That way terms can be analyzed] as reflection of traditions of formulating or of conventions of language use.

Klingt in meinen Ohren irgendwie total furchtbar.

Ich wäre für die Meinung eines Muttersprachlers und natürlich für Verbesserungsvorschläge dankbar!

... terms can be analyzed as reflections of traditional phrasing (patterns) and conventions of use

alternatives:

This way, terms can be analyzed as reflections of (verbal) communication traditions* and/or conventions of use.
(maybe also communicative traditions - although I would go with communication)

*"phrasing(-)traditions" came to mind as well but it's not seen a lot.

This way, the analysis of terms is based on the reflection of traditions of communication and/or conventions of use.

In linguistics, phraseology is the study of set or fixed expressions, such as idioms, phrasal verbs, and other types of multi-word lexical units (often collectively referred to as phrasemes), in which the component parts of the expression take on a meaning more specific than or otherwise not predictable from the sum of their meanings when used independently.

traditions of phrasing/phrasing traditions: the way terms are formulated/phrased
tradition of phraseology: tradition of the linguistic discipline of phraseology

phraseology (not as discipline) versus phrasing etc.:
http://www.english-test.net/forum/ftopic54025.html

He likes to use legal phraseology.
He likes to use legal phrasing.
He like to use legal terms.

1 more general and may include multiple types of literary vehicles/devices (words phrases sentences etc)
2 more specific referring to phrases (groups of words functioning as a single unit) or sentence construction
3 more specific referring to a word or word group similar to phrase often shorter and/or more specific

For the context here, I prefer the more specific "phrasing" to emphasize the act of "formulating/phrasing/wording" versus phraseology and to distinguish it from the linguistic discipline called "phraseology."

Explanation:
Thus, terms reflecting traditional formulations and/or colloquialisms (?) can be analyzed.

Perhaps.

traditional phrasings

Explanation:
