German term or phrase: landen
Hi,

This is print industry marketing (taken from the printers' main website). Actually, I mainly need help with the "Landen Sie punktgenau" bit, the rest of the phrase "Landen Sie mit personalisierter Kommunikation punktgenau bei jedem einzelnen Kunden" should be under control at this (early) point.

First EN draft, not revised or polished yet:
Personalise your communications, ***and in this way, be sure to strike the right chord with each individual customer***, increase response rates and enhance your customer relations.

Please note the target variety of UK English.

Context

I have also looked into the following option: "and in this way, be sure to ***hit the mark*** with each individual customer". However, I am not convinced about it.

Thanks,

Cheers,

Explanation:

With personalised communication, you can pinpoint the needs of each customer.

The personal consultation on the pick-up day is based on how they have used this digital version of their user’s manual thus far. What do they already know? What is relevant for them? “The app lets us pinpoint the needs of each customer,” explains Drolshagen. Developed by Porsche’s customer relations department, the app is already being used on a trial basis in the USA and will soon be rolled out worldwide.

agree  Roddy Tannahill: I like this. Something along the lines of "Pinpoint every customer with personalised communications...", maybe?

neutral  Jennifer Caisley: This isn't quite what the German is getting at imo - it's about appealing/speaking to each customer's needs, rather than identifying them (which is what "pinpoint" says to me!). I'm all for a creative approach, but this is a little too far, for me!

agree  philgoddard: Jennifer: Webster's says "locate or aim with great precision or accuracy", and gives "pinpoint a source" as an example.

use personalised communications to target and engage each individual customer

Explanation:
Or ... deliver personalised communications to each of your individual customers, to increase response rates etc. etc.
Or... create personalised interactions with each individual customer etc. etc.

bei ....landen
home in ..... on

Explanation:
Stylistic balance requires a set phrase - rather than a single word - and consideration of the preposition 'bei', plus the implied idea of 'hier snd Sie bei der richtigen / falschen Adresse gelandet'.

The 'homing pigeon' connotation ought not literally to 'mess up' the target.

We'll leave punktgenau for a separate question, but suggests the idea of a direct bull'y-eye hit, rather than making a subsequent impact.
