German term or phrase: sich versenden
Man stelle sich eine Vorstandssitzung vor, in der die Schwingungen zwischen den Worten in einem Rauschen untergehen oder sich beim Kampf mit den Mikrofonen versenden.

A text about conference technology and how important it is for it to be of good quality. Hope this is enough context.

Basically, I cannot make sense of the last part of the sentence from sich beim Kampf..., and specifically the meaning of the verb versenden here. Thanks for any help.

fall victim/are lost

Explanation:
my attempt at catching the tone.

Example sentence(s):
  • Imagine a board meeting, where the nuances between the words gets lost in static or fall victim to the microphone battle.
  • Imagine...................where the subtleties behind the words are drowning in white noise or are lost while struggling with the mike.

Reference information:
The sentence is neither incomprehensible nor awkward, just very "flowery".

Let me try to explain: "Vibrations" is not used in a technical sense here, but relates to shades of meaning, the underlying relationship between the members of the board, the emotional quality of what is being said.

The sentence expresses the fear that these might get lost (-> versenden) due to noise or people struggling with microfones.

You don't need to fear losing any technical meaning here.

This should read: "'Schwingungen' is not being used ...", of course

"Das versendet sich" means as much as "nobody's going to notice".

Note to reference poster
Asker: Yes the whole text is "flowery" as you say! I am having lots of fun, needless to say. This makes a whole lot more sense now that you clarified exactly what was meant by "Schwingungen". Thanks!

sich versenden
Beim Radio sagen wir oft, wenn ein Kollege in einem Beitrag einen peinlichen Fehler gemacht hat: "Och, sei nicht traurig, das versendet sich."
im Sinne von: Bei den ganzen Beiträgen, die wir senden, ist das bald vergessen.

Wie würde man "das versendet sich" auf Englisch sagen?

...that will fizzle out
