German term or phrase: Aufnahmedosis
In a coronary angiogram report I have both Durchleuchtungsdosis and Aufnahmedosis. Both with the unit Gycm2

I have got myself in a muddle with all of the various radiation measures, so I was hoping for some clarification between the two terms.
And do either of these represent DAP, or is that yet another measure?

(cine) acquisition dose
Explanation:
Both fluoroscopy and specific cine acquisitions are used for coronary angiography procedures. For radiation dose, a distinction can be made between the dose caused by fluoroscopy monitoring and the dose due to cine acquisitions. In your context, "Aufnahmedosis" may therefore refer to the cine acquisition component (although it is not a specific term for that).

Let me add that "Aufnahmedosis" is not a defined technical term in this context (as confirmed by the variability in the proposed answers). IMO, there is nothing wrong to pass the buck back to the author(s) with a translator's note.

Thanks. This makes most sense in my context. I did subsequently realise that there was a third value "Gesamtdosis" that was the sum of the "Aufnahmedosis" and "Durchleuchtungsdosis", so that would fit with your interpretation.

exposure dose

Explanation:

Detection of low contrast catheters was found to be significantly decreased in storage phosphor radiographs obtained with standard exposure dose.

radiation dose

Explanation:
As I understand it, Aufnahmedosis (radiation dose) is a general term, a dose of radiation delivered during ANY radiographic examination (X-ray, CT, mammography, fluoroscopy).

Durchleuchtung (fluoroscopy), and its radiation dose, is a special type of radiographic examination where the radiation dose tends to be higher.

So, your terms are: radiation dose and fluoroscopy radiation dose. They refer to the same thing, i.e. radiation dose, but one is general and the other one is associated with a specific type of exam.

It's somewhat like saying: juice and orange juice.

Absorbed dose

Explanation:

Absorbed dose is the amount of energy deposited by radiation in a mass. The mass can be anything: water, rock, air, people, etc. Absorbed dose is expressed in milligrays (mGy).

Please also note the equivalent dose and effective dose.

Absorbed dose

The absorbed dose is the amount of radiation energy absorbed by tissue per mass of tissue. Skin typically receives the highest absorbed dose.

Kerma Area Product
The kerma area product (KAP) is a measure of dose integrated across the entire exposed field. KAP is sometimes called dose area product (DAP). It is usually expressed in mGycm2.

Durchleuchtung:

Radiographie:

• Oberflächendosis
(ESD Entrance Surface Dose) – mGy

strahlensensiblen Organe.

The following link clearly shows that absorbed dose is used within cardiac angiography (angiogram):

Radiation Dose to Patients From Cardiac Diagnostic Imaging

While often easy to measure, exposure and air kerma specifically measure ionization in air, not tissue, and thus do not directly quantify radiation’s effect on humans. Absorbed dose is the mean energy imparted to the matter in a volume by ionizing radiation, divided by the mass of the matter in the volume. The SI unit of absorbed dose, introduced at the 15th CGPM in 1975, is the gray (Gy), which is a special name for joule per kilogram.

Reference: Dosisflächenprodukt - Dose Area Product (DAP)

Reference information:

The diagrams show that DAP with the unit Gycm2 is used for both Durchleuchtungsdosis and Aufnahmedosis.
