German to English translations [PRO]

German term or phrase: Läuterwürze
I used to translate this as "lauter wort" but have doubts meantime. Most instances where this is used originate from German contributions.

I found this discussion on LEO forum but I am not really convinced though "cloudy wort" is a viable option.

Is anyone in the know? Please provide UK/US references that are not written by German authors.

Asker: Thanks, Wortschmidt, I appreciate your help and the trouble you took in finding the webiste posted. But it is a pity that you deleted your comment in the discussion column. Was a bit sharpish. Having said this, I remain unconvinced that this is correct, I would really need more confirmation. Brewing has been my speciality subject for more than 20 years, originally having worked for Guinness.

At this stage (before lautering) , it's (cloudy) sweet wort, no?

Asker: Thanks Michael. Brewer's wort is Würze, this is then subdivided into all sorts of things, i.a. Läuterwürze. The patent is a German patent that has been translated into English, and IMO the translation is inaccurate. The EPO does not check the accuracy of translations.

Asker: Thanks Michael, but it is not clarified wort, Läuterwürze is still cloudy, this is a step prior to clarified wort.

Asker: Thanks again Michael for your trouble. You may very well be right here but I do not dare to use sweet wort since I think that sugars have been removed when left with Läuterwort. I can ask my customer, they have experts but they regard me as the expert so that is my last resort. But I will and tell you the result.
