Hello!These term(s), would , in most cases, be translated as "unavailable/unavailability" but, from the context (I'll give 2 sentences) that would clearly be incorrect here: "Wir halten einen Raum offen für Gottes Gegenwart, der – entsprechend dem biblischen Zeugnis und der Erfahrung der Kirche - unverfügbar dort ist, weil er da sein will, wo die Menschen sind." "Der Dienst ordinierter Seelsorger im Gefängnis unterstreicht die Unverfügbarkeit des Zeugnisses der Kirche von der Zuwendung Gottes zum schuldig gewordenen Menschen"

To me, this is very much in line with what I posted below at 17:04: "He alone is the self-existing one. God is free to do whatever He chooses. This is also known as the independence of God or the freedom of God."

Ja, du hast recht – Pferd von hinten aufgezäumt :-) Das unterschiedliche Verständnis liegt ggf. beim Begriff inavailable und nicht beim Satzverständnis: dass "unavailable" in der Alltagssprache oft gleichbedeutend mit "nicht vorhanden" ist, lässt es vielleicht (auch für den Fragesteller) so aussehen, als passt der Begriff nicht, aber man kann ihn wohl auch von der Wurzel "avail" (Subst.: Nutzen, Verb: Gebrauch machen von etwas) her lesen – eben in dem Sinne: wir können über Gott nicht nach unserem Belieben "verfügen". Wie in meinem ersten Post gesagt, gibt es mehrere (ganz vernünftig aussehende) englische Quellen, in denen von der inavailability Gottes gesprochen wird. Allerdings bei Weitem nicht so viele wie für "Unverfügbarkeit" auf Deutsch. Der Terminus technicus könnte also durchaus ein ganz anderer sein.
Nein, wir interpretieren den Satz genau im gleichen Sinne - das macht es wohl so schwierig :) Ich meinte, wenn du sagst, er ist dort "unavailable", weil er sein will, wo die Menschen sind, würde es ja heißen, er ist gerade eben nicht da. Wenn jemand zu dir sagt, sein oder ihr Boss ist "unavailable at the moment", dann ist der- oder diejenige nicht "present"; das Gegenteil ist hier ja der Fall. Gott is "immanent".
Deshalb denke ich, dass dies zu meinem letzten Link passt (s. u.): "God is independent of everything. This includes His creatures and His creation. He needs nothing to exist. There are no restrictions upon His character. While humans need food, oxygen, and water to exist, God needs none of these things. He alone is the self-existing one. The second instance is strange: "Unverfügbarkeit der ... von der", "inavailability [or whatever] of s.th. from s.th."? For the first instance, "inavailability" seems to be an option. The concept of God's inavailability (He cannot be commanded or operated at your discretion) seems to exist in English texts as well, albeit not as frequently as Unverfügbarkeit is in German texts.
I agree that "unavailable" doesn't work here. Could it be "inaccessible" or "unreachable"?
