German term or phrase: Strang

I can't give a specific example because this is a confidential document, but what is the best translation of "Strang" in a physics/engineering context, when you're talking about force fluxes (Kraftfluesse)? I know it can mean strand, thread, track, even axis, but physics isn't my field of expertise so I'm not sure of the best term. I also see that this term has been asked about before but again, where physics isn't my field, I'm not sure that any of the suggestions fits this context. I hesitate to use "axis" because that term also appears in this text.

dashed lines indicating the flow of forces, wouldn't this make them "directional lines"?

In fact I googled "force lines" and got a hit showing the very thing, so I will probably go with "force lines". I have to turn this in tonight, so I'll wait a little longer.

flux lines? stress vectors?

Edit: Flux lines are only relevant with body forces such as gravity or electromagnetism, which doesn't seem to be the case here.

Lines of force is exactly what they are. They are indicated as dashed lines on the drawing, and show how the mechanical forces flow/are transferred through the various parts of the machine, in this case a construction vehicle. I just wondered if there was a more technical term.

I do have some limited academic experience in physics, and I have to say that without context any further discussion is useless! String theory is a highly specialised field of study, with zero applications in engineering, so I doubt that it applies here.

these "strings" look like strings which are designed to restrain something, and that doesn't seem to be the case here.
I'd have thought "lines of force" or even something like "directions of stress" are more appropriate, but I'm no physicist (or architect!) either.

Unfortunately there aren't many technical alternatives for axis in the context of forces! If it were a mechanical context you could perhaps use axle or shaft. Maybe you could distinguish it from the other instance of usage by qualifying it, e.g. turning axis, or axis of rotation?
