Johanna and Michael, I think you're right! I didn't notice that the table in the article I cited referred to "pictures" (I only searched for the word "image," which didn't do the job! That's the problem with doing word searches rather than looking at the article as a whole!) Thanks to you both

I read your response to Michael but am still thinking that “Kontrollbild” might refer to an actual picture presented to the participant, i.e. “stimulus pictures” with cues that are expected to elicit a response and neutral “control pictures” [“Pictures” are also listed as type of stimulus in table 1 of the study in your link]
