enzyme deficiency Explanation: Ferment = Enzym. This is a somewhat outdated term (in Germany, anyway, not sure about Austria where the language tends to be more conservative). Engpass = shortage, a "bottleneck" within an enzymatic pathway. The background may be that a deficiency of the enzyme glutamate cystein ligase, leading to reduced glutathion synthesis, is discussed as one of the pathophysiological factors in schizophrenia (https://www.symptome.ch/vbboard/schizophrenie/109904-schizop... ). |
