dead bolt Explanation: Research on the Web reveals numerous manufacturers of gun safes and other safes that have "dead bolts on the hinge side" to prevent the safe being forced open with a crowbar at the side opposite the "active locking bolts". Your copy unfortunately doesn't indicate whether the dead bolts are active or inactive. -------------------------------------------------- Note added at 26 mins (2017-10-25 08:56:22 GMT) -------------------------------------------------- BTW: active locking bolts on the side where the safe door is opened are retracted into the door when you unlock the safe. Dead bolts on the hinge side are fixed and slot into holes in the body of the safe (in other areas, these are also called "Zapfen" in German) |
