German to English translations [PRO] Tech/Engineering - Ships, Sailing, Maritime
German term or phrase:Plattenschiff
This term is taken from an Austrian tourist ad on boat drips on the Drava river...but I am not quite sure what kind of ship is "Plattenschiff"..I haven't been able to find information on it anywhere.

the whole sentence:
A change of pace/A different perspective- Our boat tour. the Drava River was once a busy waterway, transporting all sorts of goods. Today, take a relaxing boat tour from Oberdrauburg, via Berg and Greifenburg, to the Radlacher Bridge (approx. 20 km).

I did agree to your version, so I would stick with the obvious too. I simply added some references to support your answer. The Dutch call their boat a "flat-bottomed sailing boat" in English.
You just said earlier you couldn't imagine the boat that I linked sailing on a river and I just answered that part. How it looks exactly, I don't know either. Pictures are always helpful. Some clients just have the tendency to send you text without the pictures :-/

but without a photo, it's best to stick to the obvious, don't you think? If it were a three-masted ship, I imagine they would say so, as there's an ocean of marketing value in it.
Regarding your question about the boat being on a river: Remember that the IJsselmeer is actually a lake and is between 2-7m deep only (https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/IJsselmeer). If the ship can sail in these shallow waters, it surely can sail on a river.

too small, it's a racing boat, which may be thrilling for some, but hardly a family outing.
that's a three-masted bark/barque. I spent a week on one with my school kids a few years back. I can't imagine it on a river, though. We sailed over the Baltic Sea.
Mal was anderes - unsere Plattenschifffahrt. Die Drau wurde früher als Wasserstraße genutzt, um verschiedene Sachen zu transportieren. Heute kann man eine Drauschifffahrt von Oberdrauburg - Berg - Greifenburg - Radlacher Brücke (ca. 20 km) machen.
Explanation: I wonder whether a vessel that is literally flat is meant - thus a pontoon (boat) or ferry barge. Perhaps the client can supply you with a picture and you can compare with images online?
