Asker: Not sure this works in my case, since what is meant is not necessarily a discourse in this sense.

Asker: Hi, Thanks for these comments. I have done some more burrowing and the term "Anschlusskommunikation" seems specifically to come from Niklas Luhmann. There does not seem to be a standard English translation for it, though some people do indeed use "follow-up communication". Another more literal translation, used in some "official" English translations of Luhmann, is "connecting communication", which is holprig but closer to the system-theoretical context of the original.

agree  Björn Vrooman: Johanna, I think the asker used the appropriate category (media studies) to let us know who the target audience is. Else, see discussion box./Ah. Well that's "Medienrezeption" (watching the movie), so I guess the question just sounded a bit colloquial :)
