Hi Johannes, I did indeed look at the patent before writing and I don't think it's far off from what's meant here. You have the essence worked out but your proposed solution is too technical I would say. If it was my job I would probably just put it along the lines of "short trips from one public transport stop to the next". Same meaning as yours of course, but less technical. Stop and go from one stop to the next is another way of putting it. Have a nice Sunday.
I think that a frame like "frequent stop and go" in unsatisfying. Such terminology is still based on the low context contained in the question, misleading some peers and does not consider to the real context found 7 hours later.

Hi Johannes, regarding your "frequent accelerations and decelerations", what do you think about framing that as "frequent stop and go"? Everyone knows what that means even though its borrowed from the traffic jam context? I'm not sure if it comes in a plural form like stop and goes, which would sound even better to me.
Apart from that I think personal vendettas should stay out of proz.com (a lesson I had to learn too).

You saw that I agreed first, as the real context was unknown. But context has changed, and this must be taken into consideration, too. Hopping does not fit "frequent accelerations and decelerations" anymore. Sorry, I was also surprised.

And, why do you revoke obsolte KudoZ answers, even altered due to altered context? Again, the context refers to frequent accelerations and decelerations during a bus journey/trip, not to hopping the bus, or frequent stops.
Sehe ich nicht ganz so, weil frequent stops bzw. häufiges Halten im innerstädtischen Verkehr klar impliziert, dass kurze Intervalle gemeint sind. Das geht in der Stadt gar nicht anders, wie du sicherlich selber vom Autofahren kennst.
Klar kann man das auch anders formulieren; einen Versuch dazu war in meinem Beitrag zu finden.
Vielen Dank, dass du das Patent gesucht hast; ist immer blöd, wenn man nicht weiß, ob man den Link veröffentlich darf. Dort gibt es auch eine US-Version, die bei kurzer Sicht nicht nach Google klingt (wenn sie auch nicht sonderlich "hübsch" ist).

Bitte lese dir das Patent durch. Dein Kommentar "kurz aufspringen, beim nächsten Halt wieder aussteigen" beweist, dass du das nicht getan hast. Es lässt sich ziemlich leicht finden.
Es geht, wie schon gesagt, nicht ums Ein- und Aussteigen und die Passagiere, sondern um den Busfahrer, da er aufgrund der Distanz lediglich kurze Intervalle(!) zurücklegen kann.
Der Ausdruck ist hier auch ungewöhnlich verwendet worden, da ein Intervall im ÖPNV darauf hinweist, wann der nächste Bus kommt. Das ist hier nicht gemeint. Es geht um den Start-Stopp-Vorgang. Lies es dir durch. Der Titel enthält schon "...Fahrverhaltens eines Fahrzeugführers".
Hops geht absolut nicht; der Link zu Flugzeugen(!!) ist nicht nur irreführend, sondern schlicht irrelevant.
ich weiß nicht, woraus geschlossen werden kann, dass der Fahrer an jeder Haltestelle wechselt. Ist mir noch nicht begegnet. Dass Passagiere kurzfristig ein- und aussteigen, ist wesentlich häufiger, z.B. der Buss kommt gerade - ich steige ein, und erreiche mein Ziel (die nächste Haltestelle) einige Minuten früher, als wenn ich laufe. Besonders dann wenn die Haltestellen nicht im 100-m-Abstand stehen, sondern wie auf dem Land, alle paar km.
The authors must be bike lovers (Intervalltraining). Intervall has a different meaning in the context of public transport.
I think you should have mentioned that the patent you're translating focuses on the bus driver, not the passengers. (Very) short distances and repeated(ly) for Intervall ought to do it.
