bois carbonifié Explanation: Als Inkohlung wird der natürliche Prozess der Entstehung von Kohle bezeichnet. Die Inkohlung führt in Zeiträumen von Jahrmillionen von frischem Pflanzenmaterial zu Huminsäuren und Torf, dann über Braunkohle und Steinkohle zum Anthrazit, in einzelnen Fällen sogar zum Graphit. Der Anteil an Wasser und flüchtigen Bestandteilen nimmt dabei laufend ab, so dass der relative Anteil an Kohlenstoff zunimmt, der im Graphit nahezu 100 % beträgt. Bisher ist es nicht gelungen, diesen Prozess restlos zu verstehen.
