Così ad esempio fra i valori 100 e 1000 in scala logaritmica c’è una distanza pari ad una decade, come pure c’è una decade fra il valore 25 ed il valore 250 … Il termine "decade" è inoltre di uso comune nella terminologia scientifica in italiano, in cui indica un'unità di misura logaritmica, esattamente un fattore dieci. Due decadi corrispondono dunque a un fattore cento, tre ad un fattore mille, e così via.
