Erstraffinat: Aus einem Rohöl hergestelltes Mineralöl. Je niedrigviskoser sie sind, desto höher der Verdampfungsverlust bei hohen Temperaturen. Das Kälteverhalten muss immer durch die Zugabe von Additiven verbessert werden. Der Viskositätsindex liegt bei ca. 90 bis 100.Es handelt sich hierbei um den VI von Einbereichsmotorenölen. Um hier Mehrbereichsmotorenöle herzustellen muss eine VI-Verbesserer zugegeben werden.
