Definitie – Termenul de ansamblu de vehicule este folosit cu referire la un automobil care circula cuplat cu unul sau doua alte vehicule pe un drum public, actionand ca o singura unitate. Un ansamblu de vehicule se refera la unul sau mai multe vehicule tractate, cuplate la un automobil.

Pentru a conduce acest tip de formatie, se aplica reguli clare legate de tipul de permis necesar, reguli ce au legatura cu masa totala maxima autorizata a remorcii tractate. Astfel, spre exemplu pentru categoria B, masa totala maxima autorizata pe remorca tractata trebuie sa fie mai mic sau egal cu 750 kg pentru a nu iesi in afara legislatiei in vigoare pentru categoria B.
