German term or phrase: Wortspiel - Wie übertragen
Folgendes Wortspiel im Kontext:
"Eine andere kuriose Geschichte trug sich ebenfalls in den Jahren zu, als man in der Grube noch Karbidlampen benutzte. Das Karbid wurde in Hobbocks geliefert, die im Volksmund "Tonnen" hießen. Einer der neuen jungen Mitarbeiter bestellte nichtsahnend "Drei Tonnen Karbid", die zu seinem Entsetzen auch promt geliefert wurden.
Tonne - бочка и тонна, как мера веса. Это в немецком понятно и смешно. Как быть с русским? Очень не хочется делать сноски с умным замечанием "прим.пер."

Как всегда спасибо за предложения и идеи!

"... Карбид обычно поставлялся в герметичных жестяных бочках, которые могли иметь различную массу, и почему-то в народе получили название "тонны", хотя, безусловно, ни о каких тоннах в данном случае речь не шла. И вот один молоденький парень, новичок на производстве, наслышавшись об этих "тоннах", решил заказать себе три...тонны, подразумевая естестественно ёмкости с карбидом. Каково же было его удивление, когда ему действительно привезли три метрические тонны карбида..."
