btw, having proofread my English, my Oxford Dictionary confirms the UK English spelling is titbits, US tidbits, also confirmed by some online dictionaries. I suspect you all knew that, but thought it best to enter a note in case it goes in a glossary at some point.

I'm very interested in the fact that your customers spoke of a "variety of dishes". I am however still conflicted about how to render it in English in the specific context of a standalone subheading. I agree with your comment that Και μεζεδάκια είναι, 'ποικιλία'. I am still wondering whether my text is referring to more dishes than just μεζεδάκια? Is it your restaurant experience that it refers to μεζεδάκια alone? It is not my sense from eating in restaurants, but I have probably been paying more attention to what I am eating than what was on the menu! No longer! Every time I see ποικιλίες I'll remember this discussion and examine everything included under that heading!

Και μεζεδάκια είναι, 'ποικιλία'!. My restaurant customers used to refer to 'Meze' as 'a variety of dishes'.

I'll bear assortments in mind. Though I have to admit I like "assorted tidbits" better. There's probably mileage in sleeping on it (when I get there!) and waiting a bit for other reactions. Thank you again, so much, for taking the time.

I've also wondered about selection, but think it has the same problem as variety/varieties if standing alone.

Thank you very much for your input. Elsewhere it comes up as πιάτα και ποικιλίες but it is not clear whether it is hors d'oeuvres or more general in the context.
