Shadowism / Genre describing eternal power in romantic way. Explanation: If we want to translate छायावाद then it should be done in literary way because छायावाद is not mere romanticism, it describes the presence of eternal power in material and abstract virtues of earth. This era of छायावाद is the most prosper and powerful era of Hindi literature. We can't translate it in a single word. |

Neo-romantic Hindi Poetry Explanation: Chhayavaad is the Golden period of Hindi Poetry from 1918-1937. Since it refers to the relatively modern era of romantic poets as compared to earlier stalwarts like Bhartendu and Mahavir Prasad Dwiwedi and of course to the ancient and the greatest romantic poet Kalidasa, I have used Neo-romantic instead of romantic. Also, though one could use the term "shadowism", I regard that as a mere literary translation of this period. |
