próbaszámítás

English translation: tentative/prelimilary/model calculation

Bus/Financial - Investment / Securities / bank loans
Hungarian term or phrase: próbaszámítás
"A kérelem kitöltéséhez az ügyfél segítséget kap (próbaszámítás)."

Ilyen esetben (lakossági bankszolgáltatások) mi lenne a legjobb változat? test calculation? sample calculation?

Explanation:
Te tudod igazán eldönteni, hogy a három közül melyik illik legjobban a szövegedbe.
A "preliminary"-t akkor használnám, ha magyarul is előzetesnek minősíthető.
A "tentative" kísérleti, próbaképpeni, puhatolózó.
Amennyiben van valamiféle leegyszerűsítés a dologban, akkor a "model calculation" jön erősen szóba.

qualifying or prequalifying (for a loan)

Explanation:
I am not sure that it is this but check for yourself:
"Each mortgage program has its own set of requirements and rules. As a result, the simple question "How much can I afford?" can be difficult to answer without a careful analysis of your personal financial situation. Mortgage originators and real estate agents frequently call this analysis "qualifying" (or "pre-qualifying" if you do this before you shop for a home)"

estimate

Explanation:
On the basis of the description I would be inclined to translate it loosely as a 'speculative calculation', but legally, for the sake of tenders and financial products (in the UK at least) this is effectively an 'estimate'. This contrasts with a mortgage 'quotation' - this is a legally binding contract. Quotations are reasonably allowed to change.

This is why you always ask workmen/women for a quote in the UK and not an estimate.

For website bank services, maybe something that works internationally (with customers outwith the UK) may be more appropriate such as 'estimated calculation'?

I meant to say "Estimates are reasonably allowed to change." Quotations aren't allowed to change and can be enforced.
