Een maat voor de maximum belasting welke een op buiging belaste balk kan verdragen totdat breuk optreedt. De Modulus of Rupture is in Engelstalige landen een geaccepteerde sterkte-eigenschap. De Modulus of Rupture en de buigsterkte zijn beide een maat voor dezelfde sterkte-eigenschap. Ze kunnen echter niet rechtstreeks met elkaar worden vergeleken (in tegenstelling tot wat de eenheden suggereren) [N/mm2,=Mpa].
