I have no context at all for this except that they are in Verona arena but can see what they are from photos on the web. Does anyone know what the corresponding word in English is?

agree  philgoddard: I don't think there's any need to include the Italian word. And "arch" may be better than "archway", as at least some of them appear to be blind arches, ie they don't lead anywhere.
