whose nature is generally appreciated Explanation: I think they are talking about the material nature of glass which normally is prized for being transparent. This huge glass panel (window?) would be hard to light artistically because parts are opaque, translucent, transparent, etc and there are probably different competing light sources. By the way, "materia" is one of those Italian words that seems to encompass some kind of intangible, poetic meaning but I think we actually have plenty of words that can cover the same ground. |
