Italian term or phrase: Il cliente è tenuto a rimborsare il locatore le spese di riparazione
My problem is with "locatore", as "renter" (which I intended using to describe the party providing the service) can apparently be used to describe both parties involved in the hire/rental of (for example) telecom equipment, PCs, etc.....

Explanation:
I don't think you need to specify who the costs are paid to. And personally I favour "you", which is how English contracts of this kind tend to be phrased these days.

Il cliente è obbligato a rimborsare il locatore le spese di riparazione
The customer is obliged to reimburse the owner for the repairs expenses

Explanation:
In housing/rental contracts, the "locatore" (lessor) is the owner/landlord of a property being rented. The "renter" (also lessee) is the "inquilino/affittuario".
I would not use the term "any" because it means "qualsiasi" which is not in the source sentence

Notes to answerer
Asker: I would prefer to specify who the costs are paid to, and it was precisely this that caused the doubts as to the correct translation of "locatore", as I explained. Lessor is unsuitable, as is owner.
