confortevole

English translation: smooth, convenient, pleasant, easy, etc.

Italian to English translations [PRO]
Cosmetics, Beauty
Italian term or phrase: confortevole
Translation about various face creams, lotions etc.

This term appears countless times throughout the document.

Fluido idratante ultra confortevole...

si fonde in un confortevole olio...

crema corpo dalla texture morbida e confortevole..

Comfortable just sounds wrong to me, even though it appears in many cosmetic descriptions online. Does anyone have any better suggestions?

Thanks for any help!

Explanation:
This issue has come up several times for me in the past. Unlike very technical documents, adverts and publicity need not always be consistent in the translations of terms. Especially in cases like this, where clearly the original author was a little lazy, using the same term for several different possible meanings. i would say you will need to find some synonyms and use your good judgement.

soothing

Explanation:
In EN, when speaking of skin cream, "soothing" is the closest equivalent to "comforting" which may have been the writer's original intention with "confortevole."

Otherwise, however, I agree with Cedric's remarks.

Comfort/velvety/silky

Explanation:
As others have said, it's important to choose the right adjectives for each phrase and make the product sound appealing.
As I feel it's all about the texture of the product, here are my choices:

Fluido idratante ultra confortevole...
Ultra comfort hydrating fluid
(sounds like a product headline or description and I think comfort sounds good with ultra...maybe I've heard that together in cosmetics before)

si fonde in un confortevole olio...
melts into a velvety oil...

crema corpo dalla texture morbida e confortevole...
Soft and silky body lotion/cream...
(Soft and silky sounds like an appealing texture to put on your skin)

I was also thinking of soothing but I usually use that to translate lenitivo/calmante

feel-good, skin-pleasing, pleasant-feeling

Explanation:
one of my bugbears when translating cosmetics! There's a handy site out there called The Ultiate Guide to Sopa with has a list entitled: 200+ Marketing Words to Describe Handcrafted Soap & Other Cosmetics, /see below) great when the barincells are tired and you just can't face another confortevole or whatever

cozy, yummy, delectable, sensual

Explanation:
I would use words denoting taste and senses here.

And I would mix them up since the word appears quite often as you say.

Thanks for this opportunity, interesting question!

Example sentence(s):
  • body cream with a soft and sensual feel

sumptuous / luxurious

Explanation:
Hi Juliet,

I'd be tempted to stray a little from the original here and translate using a combination of 'sumptuous' and 'luxurious'. It might not be exactly what the Italian says but it's what it's trying to say, right?!

Fluido idratante ultra confortevole... (ultra luxurious)

si fonde in un confortevole olio (sumptuous oil)
