Also in Italian most people has never heard, read or used the term. I guess in the original term it is used both to avoid too many repetitions of "materiale" and as a stylistic choice of the author. Moreover, any reader will infer the meaning of "materic" because in the very same paragraph they also find "material".

Nicola, In the context of a furniture catalogue, actually, the term isn't technical. It's used to describe a mood/look/feel that is created in the space because of the materials that were selected.

Because "materic" is not a word that any English-speaking person has ever used in their lives. "Materico" is mostly used in marketing texts, which have to convey an image/message that people can understand and internalize. "Materic" doesn't do that because nobody has ever heard of it before.

in passato ho tradotto varie frasi dall'inglese all'italiano, ecco un esempio:
(intervista a un designer)
"I did a lot of work with the assembly process, and even with the layering processes of materials. I wanted to make the craftsmanship resonate, to empower it."

Mia resa in italiano:
"Ho lavorato molto nell’assemblaggio e perfino nella sovrapposizione di strati materici, volevo dare risonanza al savoir-faire manuale e valorizzare i materiali con più forza.
