Italian term or phrase: assumerti la leadership è un tuo diritto
Hello,

I am having trouble with a precise interpretation of the world 'diritto' in the sentence below, which comes from a text about leadership and management styles.

'Esistono tante situazioni nelle quali assumerti la leadership è un tuo diritto, un prerequisito per concludere con successo il tuo compito o addirittura un dovere morale, un modo per tutelare chi ti è vicino.'

The way that I interpret it is that in order to complete a task successfully, you need to be granted leadership. In some situations it is something that’s owed to you, and you need it in order to achieve your task. In this way, I thought that it could be interpreted in a similar way to 'prerogative'.

My attempt at a translation is : 'There are many situations where taking a leadership role is your prerogative, something you need in order to achieve your task, or even a moral duty, a way of protecting those close to you.'

Does anyone have any good ideas?

Thanks in advance!

you may rightfully assume a leadership role
Explanation:
I would turn it around and use the adverb rightfully, implying that it is the right thing to do in a given situation.

Asker: Great idea, thank you! Then this encompasses two aspects of this work - that it is something that i owed to you, but also the right thing to do.
