Italian term or phrase: aggregati
Article on intercountry adoptions, and a section about trends in the number of these adoptions in different time periods.

“L’impatto del fenomeno [i.e. intercountry adoptions] sui possibili aggregati di riferimento segue nel tempo lo stesso profilo osservato per i valori assoluti [...] un punto di massimo nel [anno], quando [...] risultano in media poco più e poco meno di X per 1.000 nati e per 100.000 residenti rispettivamente, oltre Y casi ogni 10.000 donne in età riproduttiva ”

I understand that it is comparing absolute figures with rates per x people [overall or defined in some way] in the population. However, I'm not sure if there is a term for this type of measurement, and I'm not clear if "aggregato" is a standard way of expressing this in Italian. Am I missing something here? Is there a common translation for "aggregato" that would work here?

Thanks in advance!

Explanation:
Reverso shows that "aggregati di riferimento" is often translated as "reserve base", "reference base" or "minimum reserve (several of their examples seem to come from EU documents).

Context-specific examples:
'Social researchers who conducted pioneering studies of child placement, such as Sophie van Senden Theis, author of How Foster Children Turn Out, believed that counting was a privileged method of accumulating knowledge and approaching truth scientifically. They were sometimes surprised or disturbed by what statistics and correlations revealed—that many adopters failed to inform their children about their adoptions or that “telling” was not a reliable predictor of positive outcomes—but they were always confident that compiling aggregate data would improve the lives of individual children. Statistical evidence based on many adoptions was often compared with anecdotal evidence, which revealed the details of one child’s or family’s story. Numbers were often considered more objective than narratives, and therefore more legitimate and trustworthy as a basis for policy and practice.'
