Italian term or phrase: emistivalone
I am only able to find one hit when searching for this term in Italian which unfortunately doesn't provide a definition. The term appears an a doctor's report about a patient who has suffered a fracture to the leg. The patient has just arrived in the emergency department and term appears in the following sentence "Arto inferiore sinistro tutelato da emistivalone."

splint boot/boot brace
Explanation:
The term "emistivalone" translates literally as "half boot".
It's probably a posterior splint - these can be in the form of a walking boot.
Alternatively it may be a "short leg" walking boot type splint, depending on the type of injury, whether to the tibia or the foot.
Since the patient has come in wearing this device, I presume it's something commerically available. Tons of different terms - decide which one fits best based on your patient's injury.
